Smoothie Party

Speaking from my experience, I never thought that anything could compete with the first crunchy bite of a fresh croissant. I was aware that healthwise it isn’t the best meal to start off your day and so I decided to join the smoothie hype. At first, I thought that there’s no way a liquid drink can keep you full for over four hours- and I was definitely wrong.

The beauty of smoothies is that they are healthy, easy and fast to prepare, aesthetically pleasing and filling- perfect for students. It is ridiculous for how much money they are sold in supermarkets when you can as well prepare them at home. You have the power to decide how much money you want to invest in it, from only two ingredients (oats, banana, tap water) to more eccentric creations. Smoothies are a bit like leftover casseroles: you can use whatever fruit or veggies you’ve left over and it will somehow still taste good.

I guess that by now you’re amazed how much I could ramble on about smoothies, so enough talk and let’s dive into my three most blended recipes.

          1) Morning pleasure

…because the cacao makes it taste like chocolate, and even better because it is totally guilt-free

  • 1 banana
  • a handful of strawberries
  • 3-5 tbsp of oats (will keep you full)
  • 2 tbsp of cacao
  • 1 tsp of shredded coconut
  • one small glass of milk (dairy or non-dairy up to you)

    2) Berry Blues

  • a handful of blueberries
  • a handful of strawberries
  • 3-5 tbsp of oats
  • 1 tsp of chokeberry powder
  • 1 tsp of agave syrup or honey
  • one small glass of milk (dairy or non-dairy up to you)

          3) Joyful Start

  • 2 bananas
  • 3-5 tbsp oats
  • 1  tsp cinnamon
  • one glass of vanilla milk/ You could as well just use non-flavoured milk and use vanilla powder instead.

When adding milk, it is best to eye-measure how liquid you want your smoothie to be. Make sure that your bananas are ripe, it saves you any extra sweetener. Blend it all up and enjoy!
